Nathan Clough Ph.D. is the President and CEO of Arms and Armor Inc. and a member of the governing board of the Oakeshott Institute. After spending the better part of a decade as a professor of cultural geography, while sword fighting and sword making on the side, Nathan took the plunge into full-time sword making and research in 2017.

Since then he has lectured on various sword-related topics at academic events such as the International Congress on Medieval Studies, the American Association of Geographers annual conference, and at various universities and colleges, and given many presentations at HEMA events such as the Western Martial Arts Workshop, Longpoint, Combatcon, and the Texas Sword Retreat, among others.

Nathan is interested in the history and practice of sword fighting, and in using the study and reproduction of original pieces to inform the conclusions we draw from historical martial practice. He fences longsword in and out of armor primarily drawing from the German tradition.
